A cable company wanted to offer Accredited transmission training to
their clients, but they did not have the skills to carry out the task.
CCE were chosen as the company to provide the desired expertise.
The project had three phases:
Phase One involved the purchase, Installation and the commissioning
of transmission hardware
including power.
Phase two involved writing the relevant courseware to accreditation
standard.
Phase Three was running the Pilot course and then ongoing training
courses for customers.
Phase One had very tight deadlines from the moment of choosing
the preferred supplier through to the actual delivery of Equipment.
Ericsson was the chosen provider and the hardware was delivered within
6 weeks (a record) and installed consisting of 4 SDH Equipments (2 x
AXD 155-3 and 2 x AXD 620). The power for said equipment was installed
concurrent with the hardware and the equipment was installed and commissioned
within 1 week. Following this the equipment was then linked to give
the network environment required for training.
Phase Two which ran concurrent with Phase One was the development
of the Courseware both for the Student Manuals and Instructor Power
point and notes. The courseware was designed to be run over a five-day
period and broken up into six modules. SDH Technical Theory Module for
1 day, Preparation, Technical, Installation, Commissioning and Operations
modules which would last a further 4 days. All containing both theory
and Practical exercises and tests.
Phase Three involved putting the Hardware installed and the
courseware together and running a pilot course. The course was a great
success and to this day is the only SDH Transmission course available
in the country with accreditation towards HND and Btec's.
In summary the whole project was completed within 3 months from start
to finish which in itself is good, but added to this the completed course
has been greeted with excellent results from all who have attended including
the Accreditation board.
